Working alongside CBR over the past 2 years has felt more like a family relationship than a business one. The respect, patience and understanding has been of high quality, and I am looking forward to continuing this partnership in the years to come
We first met Michael from Gawun Supplies in 2022 when he came to Hervey Bay to visit us and have a yarning circle with our team, Michael and his team are committed to building deep authentic relationships between corporations and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait People.
Together the team at Gawun supplies are developing designs for uniforms and PPE, creating awareness for indigenous culture within Australia and educating others by holding events and visiting businesses to strengthen the connection to country. Our team having been wearing the Wanya shirts with pride for over a year now and this year we are starting new conversations by wearing our new Gani Yirra Shirt.

How can you help strengthen our Fraser Coast Community?
Shop Locally
Whenever possible, choose local businesses for your shopping needs. From farmers’ markets to independent stores, buying local supports our economy, creates jobs, and fosters a sense of community. Look for Fraser Coast produce and products to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
Dine at Local Restaurants and Cafés
Supporting locally owned restaurants and cafés, like those offering Pay-It-Forward initiatives, helps keep your community’s unique flavor alive. These establishments often use local ingredients and give back to the community in meaningful ways.
Participate in Charity Events
Many charities and community organisations on the Fraser Coast host fundraising events. Participating in local fun activities, dinners, or charity drives, such as those held by the Dunga Derby, allows you to contribute while enjoying community activities.
Donate or Volunteer with Local Charities
Consider donating time or resources to Fraser Coast charities. Local organisations often need volunteers for everything from daily operations to community events. If you can’t volunteer, donating items or funds can make a significant impact.
A simple way to support local businesses and charities is by sharing their posts or leaving positive reviews online. Word-of-mouth recommendations are invaluable, and sharing on platforms like Facebook or Instagram can increase their reach and support their growth.
